        ABOUT THE STRIP

Marching to a Different Accordion is set in an unnamed high school. The main character is Mirriea Phenlath, a frowsy-looking girl attempting to capture both a high GPA and that fickle creature called Popularity. Along the way, she meets a number of people: her stepmother Kaisa, her stepbrother Samos (also a student at her high school), various friends, and, last but not least, herself.

Accordion is a gag-a-day strip with a distinct plot and story. It has a beginning, a middle and an end. It has, like most stories, a "moral", which the author attempts to obscure with as much wacky humor as possible. It is also unabashedly ludicrous at times, wandering off into realms of pure nonsense without apology or backwards glance. The author could attempt to make some sort of profound statement about how this reflects the reality of life, but the truth is that he just likes being silly. Also, Chris, the author, is a writer first, a musician second, a joker third, and an artist a distant fourth, which is why the drawings are such crap. He apologizes for the inconvenience and reminds readers that if they don't like his drawings, they are perfectly free to hire on as the strip's resident artist. He has plenty of celery with which to pay them. No, seriously. His family just received several tons of celery and they have no idea how to get rid of it. Also, he would like to point out that he is being silly again.

Accordion entered a two-year hiatus in 2003 when Chris was lured away by other creative endeavours. These projects have since concluded, and if you ask him nicely, he may even tell you what they were.

About the Author

In his youth, Chris Ng discovered a propensity for making people laugh by tripping over his own untied shoelaces. He has attempted to recapture this brief burst of popularity ever since.

Chris started drawing comic strips in 6th grade, mostly under the influence his best friend Andrew. Some of those old strips, called The Thumprints, have found new life as Accordion strips. The others are being locked away and will never be shown to anyone except significant others.

At various times in his life, Chris has held a college diploma, a black belt in Shotokan karate, a writer's pen, an artist's pencil, a singer's microphone, a choralist's music folder, a piano, a video game controller, a sword, the hands of several females, a number of pet hamsters and two cats. Marching To A Different Accordion is his first commercial venture.

Chris would like to thank comicgenesis for hosting him; Mac Hall, for introducing him to the world of webcomics; Fox Astron for constant and indefagitable help with HTML; and graphics artist Rebecca Maxwell for the delightful header banner.
